The One Where My Sister Moved In

August 8, 2016 By Laura

My baby sister and I never really lived together.

I left for college when she was 10.

It’s funny to think about.  My baby sister, Madison, was still a baby when I left for college.  We all still lived in Georgia.  It’s not like we didn’t see each other, but that’s a lot different that sharing space.

I had to laugh when this popped up in my Timehop last week:

Living with the baby…

Leg Day Fuel {WIAW}

August 3, 2016 By Laura

Working out in the heat is 100x harder.

Especially cardio and leg day.

I’ve actually gotten in a few good runs.  Maybe I’ll one day earn the “sprint” back.  Until then, I’ll be satisfied with my current summer heat pace.  It’s definitely faster than I’ve been in a couple of years!

A Day in the Life {WIAW}

July 27, 2016 By Laura

My friends always ask me “do you even work?!”

Ah, the beach life…

I work for myself, which means flexibility.  It’s something I value above all else.  I go to the gym when I want, I basically alternate between PJs and gym clothes, and – best of all – I can work from anywhere.

One of my favorite types of posts to read are “day in the life” stories.  Today I thought I’d try my hand at one, along with the usual WIAW post.

Competitive Women Aren’t Bitches {WIAW}

June 29, 2016 By Laura

I’m the most competitive person I know.

With the exception of Vegas.

As women, it seems we often have a hard time with competition.  We’re too worried about being nice, well-liked, feminine… it reminds me of a quote I read long ago that went something like: Why is a woman a bitch and man is strong?

One of the most competitive women I’ve ever seen died yesterday at 64, just 5 years after being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease.  She even coached and won the year she was diagnosed.  That’s something I loved about Pat Summitt.  She wasn’t afraid of being competitive and fighting to win.  She knew that competitive drive is what makes you great.

You can't always be the most talented person in the room, but you can be the most competitive. Pat Summitt

Cutting Out the Nonsense – A Path Towards Weight Loss

June 27, 2016 By Laura

As a society we talk a lot about eating, weight loss, and healthy guidelines.

But are we really listening?

Believe it or not, eating is an addiction.  There are meetings, Overeaters Anonymous, where people who have a tendency to overeat can share their experiences and support each other.  While some people might think that it’s comical for anyone to look at eating as an addiction, it’s a difficult vice for people to overcome.  Saying that these people should just get off the couch or start eating better is like telling a person suffering from depression “Hey, cheer up!”

There’s a lot more to it than that.

Hey cheer up!…

June 17, 2016 By Laura

It’s no secret that I like to have a drink.

Or 5.  But I deserve it this week!

While overindulging isn’t the healthiest thing for your body, let’s be honest… it happens to the best of us.  I’ve personally done some research – all for YOU, of course – and have found 10 Hangover Cures that REALLY work.

Hate Solves Nothing #prayfororlando {WIAW}

June 15, 2016 By Laura

I’m at a loss for what to say this week.

This weekend doesn’t seem real.

Hate has caused a lot of problems in this world, but it has not solved one yet.

What happened in Orlando… I just can’t comprehend how someone could be so evil.

Vegas and I were at THAT CLUB just 8 months ago.  We’d gone to Orlando to play in a softball tournament.  Our team won second place, and that’s where we went to celebrate.  We danced all night, Vegas blew out the heel on her shoe, we hung out on their patio, I used that bathroom a few times having had far too many bourbon and diets… it was so much fun.

Canned Wine, Cardio, & WIAW

June 1, 2016 By Laura

I’m starving.

Thank you, incessant cardio.

I began my day meeting a new client, then I had to go to Whole Foods.  There was one right next door to my meeting… I couldn’t help myself.

It was a new-to-me location, so I wandered aimlessly for a good while taking pics of fun things like sparkling wine in a can.  I miiiiiight have purchased a 4-pack.  Curiosity killed the cat.

Sparkling wine in a can - don't judge!
