Pretty Chocolate Pumpkin Protein Bowl + WIAW

November 18, 2015 By Laura

Pretty food just tastes better.

Unless it’s Mexican… that seems impossible to photograph well.

When Pretty Fit reached out and asked if I’d be interested in their Pretty Fit Protein Powder I was sold just from the name.  Shallow, I know.  I’ve been known to buy wine based on name too.  After I got past that, I realized the macros and ingredients rocked too.

Having been into seriously working out and lifting for the past… errrr… a lot of years… protein intake.  It’s important to take in at least 20g of protein closely following a workout to facilitate recovery and muscle growth.  One of the easiest ways to do this is with protein powder.

BBQ Quinoa Meatloaf [Recipe]

November 16, 2015 By Laura

I have a thing against meatloaf.

Fun childhood trauma story for you today.

Once upon a time, there was a small girl.  One night her mother made meatloaf for dinner.  The girl wasn’t feeling well and didn’t want to eat the meatloaf.  Despite her complaints, her mother made the girl finish her plate.

Then tragedy struck!  The girl ran for the bathroom and was sick to her stomach.  That was the last time the child ate meatloaf.  Until today.

SoCal Tough Mudder Recap + WIAW

November 11, 2015 By Laura

We survived the Tough Mudder!

Was there really any doubt?

We had some doubts going into the Tough Mudder.  Vegas and I were coming off a week of softball and – having done this once before – I was already dreading the Arctic Enema.

We’re terrible about getting out the door in the morning, so I made our breakfast for the road.  It was an overnight creation much like this apple pie one, but with chia seeds, vanilla rice protein, cinnamon, ginger, and persimmons.

Overnight persimmon yogurt

Week in Review: Whirlwind Trip to Vegas

November 9, 2015 By Laura

We all know about what happens in Vegas.

That’s never actually worked for me.

What happens in Vegas typically stays with me.  I marry it, Instagram it, or post about it.

And that leads me to my very first submission to Meghan’s Week In Review.

Week In Review

Vegas and I spent a long weekend in Vegas.  It started a little something like this:…

Peanut Butter Apple Pie Yogurt [Recipe]

November 6, 2015 By Laura

This is the fastest #strangebutgood post I’ve ever done.

Goal: Under 10 mins.

The clock has started.  I’m sitting in a parking lot in Las Vegas waiting on Vegas.  If you don’t think today’s recipe is strange, the writing circumstances certainly are!

We’ve been having to leave the house early lately.  I’m not someone who can eat first thing.  First I need my morning cocktail, coffee, and a trip to the bathroom (if you know what I mean).  When we have to leave in a rush, I make my breakfast to-go so I have time for my routine and eat comfortably.  We left for Vegas early yesterday, so I made this Peanut Butter Apple Pie Yogurt for the road.

Peanut Butter Apple Pie Yogurt - great way to use those fall apples!…

Learning to Kill Spiders + WIAW

November 4, 2015 By Laura

Vegas has taught me to kill spiders.

It’s not what you think.

Vegas and I are total opposites in some ways.  She loves living things, I can’t stand them.  She brought 2 dogs and 2 birds to this marriage.  I brought a house plant.

She captures bugs in the house and releases them safely outside.  I scream like a girl and beg her to smash them.  Until now.

Killing spiders with glitter body spray might not be the best idea...

Playing in the Softball World Series + Green Tea Energy Giveaway

November 2, 2015 By Laura

Vegas and I are giant kids.

Giant wine-drinking kids.

We first met 7 years ago playing softball and reunited last year when I flew to Vegas to play ball in a tournament.  This year we played in that same tournament again, this time on our old Atlanta team.

Strange But Good Halloween Recipes

October 30, 2015 By Laura

This post might be too obvious.

But I have no shame.

Halloween is the perfect #strangebutgood holiday.  What’s more odd than dressing up in costumes and going door to door begging for candy?

In honor of All Hallows Eve, I bring you an appropriately fall-themed recipe collection.
