A Day in the Life {WIAW}

July 27, 2016 By Laura

My friends always ask me “do you even work?!”

Ah, the beach life…

I work for myself, which means flexibility.  It’s something I value above all else.  I go to the gym when I want, I basically alternate between PJs and gym clothes, and – best of all – I can work from anywhere.

One of my favorite types of posts to read are “day in the life” stories.  Today I thought I’d try my hand at one, along with the usual WIAW post.

A Day in the Life

Shrimp Teriyaki Stir Fry {Recipe}

July 25, 2016 By Laura

We’ve been on a bit of an Asian food kick.

Trashy takeout teriyaki, to be honest.

I finally decided to class it up and make a healthier version of our current teriyaki addiction using our Sizzlefish stash.

When you eat the take out variety of teriyaki, you’re limited to chicken.  At home, you can teriyaki any protein you like.  I chose to make a Shrimp Teriyaki Stir Fry.

This yummy teriyaki stir fry recipe means you'll never need take out again. The marinade for the shrimp is just 3 ingredients!

Middle Eastern Spiced Chicken Skewers with Herbed Tahini Sauce

July 22, 2016 By Laura

These flavor-packed Middle Eastern Spiced Chicken Skewers with Herbed Tahini Sauce are the perfect summer dinner on the grill!

Middle Eastern Spiced Chicken Skewers with Herbed Tahini Sauce - these make a great summer dinner on the grill!I needed a vacation from my vacation.  So I took one.  I returned from my birthday adventures on Tuesday… but I was SO tired I couldn’t think of blogging.  Instead, I hung out with my sister who was in town, caught up on work, got back to the gym, and made something tasty – Middle Eastern Spiced Chicken Skewers with Herbed Tahini Sauce.

Like many Middle Eastern dishes, this one has quite a few spices in it.  Don’t be scared.  It doesn’t take long to throw a bunch of spices in a bowl, and the flavor punch is awesome.

Try these flavorful Middle Eastern Spiced Chicken Skewers with Herbed Tahini Sauce on the grill this summer!

This recipe’s bonus is that you’ll have leftover spice blend AND tahini dip to use in other dishes.  The spice blend makes an awesome addition to a frittata, and that tahini is really good mixed with shredded chicken or turkey for lunch.

I guess I’m still “vacationing” because I don’t have much more to say… it’s been a wonderful start to my 33rd year.  Thank you for all the birthday wishes.  xoxo

Golden Gate Bridge: A Birthday Urban Hike

July 15, 2016 By Laura

Birthdays are the best.

Especially with Vegas.

I’d have to start by saying that it a scary time to be celebratory.  I’m so sad for the world, and most recently for Nice.  My sister is traveling there right now; I am so very grateful she’s ok.

Secondly, I’m grateful to be in San Fransisco for my birthday with Vegas.  I don’t have many words, so I’ll leave you with some pictures from our hike across to Golden Gate Bridge.

I Hate Losing + San Diego Ball Park Food {WIAW}

July 13, 2016 By Laura

Serena Williams is a beast.

(In the best way possible.)

I was on the elliptical (effing cardio) reading an interview with Serena Williams… and nearly stopped in my tracks when I read this quote:

I hate losing more than I like winning.”

I hate losing more than I like winning.…

Adele Wine Pairings, Hair Tint, & Other Random Loves

July 8, 2016 By Laura

Why does Friday seems SO far away on a short week?

Especially when you have Friday off too.

Vegas and I are camping all weekend in the RV.  It’s the annual OTL tournament in San Diego, so we’ll be with hundreds of our closest friends on an island playing ball.  It’s an insane tradition here, and we’re happy to adopt it!

As such, I have nothing creative for you to make today.  However, I did compile another random list of things that are awesome this week.

1. Adele Wine Pairings

This article, 11 Wines to Drink While Crying to Adele’s New Album, is brilliant.  The tasting notes, the gifs…  I’m a little ashamed I didn’t think of this first.

He was an asshole, I was a bitch. It wasn't going to work. Adele…
