Breakfast for Lunch Tacos

May 8, 2015 By Laura

3 bloggers can get a little strange.

Meghan’s husband can attest to this.

Lucie AND Meghan are in town (and Meghan’s husband who shall not be named or pictured).  We’ve been touring San Diego and causing general shenanigans.

Afternoon beers, anyone?

Culture beer

Culture Brewery

We’ve also been cooking.  All of us in the kitchen is a strange but good heaven.

(Vegas reminded me where the fire extinguisher was.) …

Cinco de Taco Tuesday [WIAW]

May 6, 2015 By Laura

Two bloggers go food shopping…

I can’t even narrow down the punchlines.

Lucie and I had a food shopping adventure to the Pacific Beach Farmer’s Market and then to Whole Foods.  We were actually quite well-behaved!  Even between the two of us we spent less than $100* in Whole Paycheck Foods.

*That’s unheard of for me – just ask Vegas.

Laura and Lucie…

Personal Training and Pizza [WIAW]

April 29, 2015 By Laura

My idea of heaven is getting paid to workout.

And to eat… errrr… cook.

Several months ago I earned personal training certificates through the International Association of Fitness Sciences (IAFS) in Functional Training, Bodybuilding, and Sports Nutrition.  This is 8x Mr. Olympia Lee Haney‘s program (he’s basically my version of a movie star).

I wasn’t sure how or if I’d use it… I ended up training a couple of friends and deciding it’s something I really did love.  So I added a link on my site for training and nutrition.  Between getting married and moving, I never did much to promote it.  Now that we’re settled, the time has come!

IAFS certification…

Semi-Homemade Spaghetti Dinner

April 22, 2015 By Laura

You may have noticed I didn’t post anything Monday.

Or you may not have noticed…

This weekend we were in Arizona playing in a softball tournament.  By the time we got home Sunday night, we went straight to bed!

We didn’t win… but everyone played hard!  And we brought the basics:

The sriracha jerky could have been hotter.

Spring into Strange (But Good)

April 17, 2015 By Laura

I always look forward to spring.

Except the pollen.  Who knew San Diego had pollen?!

Spring food is the best.  Don’t get me wrong, I love a roasted winter squash and the orange glow that comes with it.  The lighter, fresh spring fare has my heart though.

Today’s #strangebutgood is a round up of some of my favorite spring recipes.  Some stranger than others.  All good.  In my not-so-humble opinion.

Basil Veggie Frittata [Recipe] + WIAW

April 15, 2015 By Laura

Breaking in a new oven is the best.

Not to be confused with breaking… or burning… a oven.

We’re back in business this week with a new oven installed.  No thanks to GE or Home Depot.  You don’t realize how much not having an oven can cramp your style!

Our new oven is gorgeous.  It’s even blue inside!  Just look at the LG beauty compared to the GE POS model (♫ to the left, to the left… ♪):

Eating Local in San Diego + WIAW

April 1, 2015 By Laura

We’re finally getting some normalcy post-move.

The term “normal” is used loosely for us.

The boxes are slowly disappearing.  Things have places on shelves.  There are curtains in the bedroom and dining room (the other rooms are another story).  We joined a gym… I joined a second gym.  We have groceries and are eating at home *almost* each week day.  And we have redneck Christmas lights strung up on the cabana.

Cabana

Banana Walnut Protein Pancakes [Recipe] + WIAW

March 25, 2015 By Laura

WIAW is on the move again this week!

Because I haven’t had enough  moving…

Here’s the deal.  What I Ate Wednesday has been jumping around to give mamma Jenn a break.  She’s entrusted me this week with hosting duties (which may be a sign she’s taken up a crack habit… is rehab where she’s disappeared to?!).

Since I’m sooooo known for sugar coating things, I’m going to come out and say that the link up got a bit out of control and Jenny from the block was suffering from exhaustion. WIAW was meant to just be a day of eats.  Don’t be linking shit from 5 weeks ago, everything you ate for the past 3 weeks, or some unrelated giveaway you’re trying to get more traffic for.  Follow the rules and don’t be greedy.  In short, don’t be a dick.

WIAW - New…

One of the most fun parts about Bison Meatloaf Muffins (or any meatloaf recipe, really) is the flexibility.  You can use any ground meats you desire (TWSS).  Try turkey, chicken, or a combo of beef and lamb.  I have the attention span of a gnat, so I'm always looking for new ways to make things.
