Red Velvet Protein Dip [Recipe] + WIAW

February 10, 2016 By Laura

Is everyone pumped for Valentine’s Day?

Like most holidays, I’m just here for the food.

Ever since Vegas came into my life I’ve become a bit more mushy.  We were both just laughing at how cheesy we are.  It’s awesome disgusting.

After learning her favorite dessert is red velvet cake, I’ve been creating red velvet everything.  This Valentine’s Day it’s Red Velvet Protein Dip.

The perfect healthy dip for Valentine's or just because. This Red Velvet Protein Dip is done in less than 5 mins!

Microwave Eggs, Poached and Scrambled

February 5, 2016 By Laura

No one wants to spend all their time cooking on vacation.

And when you don’t have a stove, it’s impossible.

Breakfasts have been quick and easy for us.  We only have a microwave and a fridge in our studio… so when I bought eggs Vegas gave me a weird look.  Apparently she’d never had microwave eggs before.  It sounds strange, but it’s actually really good.

This Egg McMuffin didn’t stand a chance:

Making eggs in the microwave is incredibly easy. The eggs are really fluffy and make the perfect Egg McMuffin!

Please note my lioness bed-head in the microwave reflection. #bighairdontcare

Truth Telling and Sunday Eats [WIAW]

January 27, 2016 By Laura

I actually love politics.

Who doesn’t like to see well-educated people look ridiculous on stage?

If you know me, you know my favorite people to make fun of are Sarah Palin and Donald Trump.  They make it too easy sometimes though.  Palin endorses Trump… then her son gets arrested… then she lies about his PTSD and tries to blame others for his bad behavior.  Just wow.

But, you have to laugh.  Otherwise you’ll cry.  In that spirit, here are some things that DO always tell the truth:

Things that always tell the truth...

Bike Riding & Cooking for One [WIAW]

January 20, 2016 By Laura

I can walk!

With a little limp.

It’s been almost a week since my PRP treatment to regrow a ligament my ankle.  I can’t think about running yet, but I can ride a bike!  I’ve been doing 10 miles at verrrrry low resistance on the old folks bike.  You know the one – with the reclined back lounge chair.  No shame!

Riding my bike

PRP Update & a Weekend of Not Cooking

January 18, 2016 By Laura

I didn’t go to a gym for over a week.

This is some kind of record.

I’m a gym rat.  I legit love to go.  It’s my “me” time.  For more than a week I’d either been traveling, skiing, or on crutches.

Not that skiing doesn’t count as exercising.  I’m really talking about lifting.  We came down from the mountain Wednesday and went right to the doctor for my PRP therapy.  That left me like this for the weekend:

Post-PRP shot…

Skiing, Snowboarding, and Brusing [WIAW]

January 13, 2016 By Laura

I can ski pretty well.

I was one of those 6 year olds on the slopes.

While I grew up skiing, I never wanted to try to snowboard.  I don’t get to the snow very often and when I do, I don’t want to spend my time falling trying to learn something else.

Vegas and I are in Big Bear right now.  I spent day 1 skiing while she spent the day in snowboarding school.  I had a blast shooting down double blacks and navigating a few moguls.

On the Healthy Wagon [WIAW]

January 6, 2016 By Laura

I’m done playing.

For the most part.

We have survived our first year of marriage.  We’ve eaten basically anything we wanted, had many toasts, and celebrated to our heart’s content.  After a year of playtime, we’ve agreed it’s time for a year of health.  This year is about travel, adventure, and being in top shape to do it all!

But first, a last meal.

Palm Springs Shennagins + WIAW

December 30, 2015 By Laura

I’m kidnapping a Swiss girl.

And not just because she makes me breakfast.

Lucie and I have been entertaining Vegas for the past few days.  I can’t remember ever having a more #strangebutgood Christmas.  We opened presents a day early so that we could abscond to Palm Springs and Joshua Tree for Christmas.

I couldn’t let them go without anything Christmas morning though.  I had the honor of giving Lucie her first Christmas stocking!
