I’m slacking big time this week.
Not really… just as it relates to blogging.
But I have a good excuse. I’ve been in Orlando winning a softball tournament! More accurately, my team, Laidback, went undefeated all weekend and won first place.
No, I didn’t actually play. The doctor cleared me to do anything, but, having torn 2 ACLs playing ball, I’m pretty terrified to play. Sprinting still isn’t really a possibility and I’m not confident that I can stop quickly or change direction.
Instead, I kept the book and watched Vegas burn outfielders with some amazing at bats. It was a lot of fun!
We also got to meet my BFF’s latest offspring. Wyatt is just 3 weeks old and already brilliant. The kid was smart enough to give me the sink eye.
Kids really do have a 6th sense.
Needless to say, this #WIAW is a bit disjointed. This is kind of what I ate over the last 24 hours between Orlando and San Diego. Don’t follow my example. But DO be sure to link up to Jenn’s WIAW baby at the bottom!
As per usual, I traveled with the ingredients to make our morning cocktails. These were pretty rushed, as we both had morning calls to do while trying to pack up and leave the hotel room. We arrived (starving) at our breakfast destination at noon. Waffle House is always worth the wait. 😉
Confession: I love @wafflehouseofficial. Like, I really love it. To the point that when Vegas and I travel, we HAVE to eat a meal there… because friggin’ California has ZERO Waffle Houses. On our way to the Orlando airport today, we stopped in at WaHo for brunch. I always order the same thing: chocolate chip waffle with an egg (or two) over easy. No syrup – the yolk is the syrup. 🍳 It’s a #strangebutgood sweet and savory combo. So strange that I once had a waitress ask to take a picture of it. 😂 No shame! What’s your favorite “trashy” food pleasure? . . If you’re into the strangeness and want a healthier version, check out the link in my profile. I recreated it as something I can eat daily. 😉
Since WaHo was at lunchtime, we just snacked on the plane. Unpictured almonds and the requisite glass of wine.
This was a tuna salad at the Detriot airport (layover). I wasn’t in the mood for pics. Instead, here’s the charcuterie I made us last night back in San Diego.
I’m getting my sh*t together next week. I have a REALLY delicious egg recipe coming at ya!
Are you a Waffle House fan? It’s a nostalgic love for me.
Do you play any team sports?
