Softball Weekend + WIAW

January 17, 2018 By Laura

I’m slacking big time this week.

Not really… just as it relates to blogging.

But I have a good excuse.  I’ve been in Orlando winning a softball tournament!  More accurately, my team, Laidback, went undefeated all weekend and won first place.

No, I didn’t actually play.  The doctor cleared me to do anything, but, having torn 2 ACLs playing ball, I’m pretty terrified to play.  Sprinting still isn’t really a possibility and I’m not confident that I can stop quickly or change direction.

Instead, I kept the book and watched Vegas burn outfielders with some amazing at bats.  It was a lot of fun!

We also got to meet my BFF’s latest offspring.  Wyatt is just 3 weeks old and already brilliant.  The kid was smart enough to give me the sink eye.

Kids really do have a 6th sense.

Needless to say, this #WIAW is a bit disjointed.  This is kind of what I ate over the last 24 hours between Orlando and San Diego.  Don’t follow my example.  But DO be sure to link up to Jenn’s WIAW baby at the bottom!

WIAW - New

Breakfast:

As per usual, I traveled with the ingredients to make our morning cocktails.  These were pretty rushed, as we both had morning calls to do while trying to pack up and leave the hotel room.  We arrived (starving) at our breakfast destination at noon.  Waffle House is always worth the wait. 😉

Lunch:

Since WaHo was at lunchtime, we just snacked on the plane.  Unpictured almonds and the requisite glass of wine.

Dinner:

This was a tuna salad at the Detriot airport (layover).  I wasn’t in the mood for pics.  Instead, here’s the charcuterie I made us last night back in San Diego.

I’m getting my sh*t together next week.  I have a REALLY delicious egg recipe coming at ya!

Are you a Waffle House fan?  It’s a nostalgic love for me.

Do you play any team sports?

Babies are friggin’ smart! HA! He was such a chill kid though. It was amazing how he wasn’t phased by his brother and sister jumping all around him.

I would feel the same way about playing softball after your injury. Way to be cautious and congrats on the win!

OMG that stink eye is pretty epic. Love it. Congrats on your team’s win! I used to coach tennis and played on my college team for a semester, but we actually were Division 3 and totally sucked, so it was really just a social thing. I wish I could say I’ve picked up my raquet in the past, like, 12 years, but no…maybe THAT should be my new year’s resolution.

He is a hilarious baby! I’m totally impressed you played tennis in college! I’m sure you didn’t suck. I’d love to try to play again one day… when I have more lateral movement.

Delicious egg recipe? You know I’m looking forward to that!
Glad to see that even though you made a wise choice not playing ball this year you still got to have fun, be there and upkeep the spirit of it all!

Being wise is so lame. 😉 But maybe I’ll be able to play in another month!

I’m (not so) secretly glad you didn’t play. I think it might be time to sit out softball and save your knees.

    That cheese and meat board…mmmm.

No way! Just until I’m stable enough not to be scared. 🙂

Congrats to your softball team! Sounds like a lot of fun. And I don’t blame you, I think I’d be hesitant to play softball given your track record… but, something tells me you’ll make it back out there at some point 😉

Thanks! It was hard to sit it out, but I loved getting to be there and be part of it. And I got to see Vegas KILLING it. 🙂
