Easy Apple Cider Sangria [Recipe]

November 4, 2016 By Laura

Fall is my favorite time of year.

Not that fall actually exists in San Diego.

For this Easy Apple Cider Sangria recipe, I decided to combine by love of red wine and apples.  There are just a few ingredients, and you can make it 24 hours in advance to have ready for guests.

Easy Apple Cider Sangria - not too sweet, yet bursting with fall flavors!…

Running… Is a Struggle. Food is not. [WIAW]

October 26, 2016 By Laura

Cool(er) weather makes me want to run.

My body sometimes has other plans.

There is a rumor that San Diego is 70°F (that’s 21°C) all year long.  This is a lie.  It was as high as 90°F (32°C) just last week!  Yesterday it finally cooled to a comfortable 72 and I decided to hit the trails in Balboa Park.

This is my favorite place to run.  It looks like something out of a Dr. Seuss book!

One Day in Piedmont: From Alba to Barolo

October 17, 2016 By Laura

The city of Alba in Italy’s Piedmont region is my favorite place in the world.

It’s known for food and wine, so this shouldn’t be surprising to anyone.

The Piedmont region in Italy is heaven for those who love food and wine.  It’s known for Barolo (the “king’s wine”) and white truffles, which are nearly worth their weight in gold (I’m not exaggerating).  Don’t forget that it’s also the home of Ferrero Rocher and Nutella!

I highly recommend at least one day in the city of Alba, which is about an hour’s train ride from the larger city of Turin (Torino, in Italian).

Downtown San Diego Sunday Funday

August 29, 2016 By Laura

San Diego is always filled with activity.

Literally.  There’s a festival very weekend!

Even though I’ve lived in San Diego for less than two years, I don’t often spend time in some of the most “famous” areas.  This weekend my baby sister and I decided to do a little adventuring on foot around Downtown, Sea Port Village, Waterfront, and Little Italy.

We started out with a little jog to the Convention Center… only to run these stairs.

Highway 1 Road Trip: Half Moon Bay and Santa Cruz

July 29, 2016 By Laura

I will eventually recap my entire birthday trip.

It just might take until my next birthday.

I posted our Golden Gate bridge urban hike, but after that we packed up and headed south down Highway 1, the scenic route down the coast of California.  It’s a beautiful trip – if you ever have a chance to make the drive, DO IT!

Canned Wine, Cardio, & WIAW

June 1, 2016 By Laura

I’m starving.

Thank you, incessant cardio.

I began my day meeting a new client, then I had to go to Whole Foods.  There was one right next door to my meeting… I couldn’t help myself.

It was a new-to-me location, so I wandered aimlessly for a good while taking pics of fun things like sparkling wine in a can.  I miiiiiight have purchased a 4-pack.  Curiosity killed the cat.

Sparkling wine in a can - don't judge!

Antelope Canyon Adventures + WIAW

March 16, 2016 By Laura

My dream job would be getting paid to travel.

Who’s hiring?

Some people are read to come home after vacation.  Not me.  Vegas and I just got back from a (almost) 2 week adventure.  We went to Napa for a wine course, came home for a bit, and then headed out again to Vegas for my first NASCAR race, then to see Antelope Canyon in AZ, and lastly to Phoenix for Padres Spring Training.

It’s a lot to recap, but I wanted to quickly share some Antelope Canyon highlights.

I'd rather have a passport full of stamps…

What I Ate In Napa

March 2, 2016 By Laura

I tasted over 60 wines in 2 days.

I didn’t swallow.  TWSS

Vegas and I ran off to Napa to take a wine course.  It was amazing and crazy.  I’ve never tasted so much wine without a drinking a single sip.

Our last day there was meant for fun though – we visited 4 of the best wineries I’ve been to!
