Gettin’ Quizzed on a Plane

January 26, 2015 By Laura

I’ll never tire of surveys.

How do these things take me longer than “regular” posts?

Megan nominated me for one of those Liebster award quizzes a couple of weeks ago andI’m finally getting around to it.  It’s fun airplane project as I fly back to Atlanta from San Diego.  The random pics throughout are from Vegas’ and my long weekend on the coast.

Marriage Advice – From You!

January 19, 2015 By Laura

Married 2 weeks and I’m already giving advice?!

No.  Not even I am that arrogant confident.

When I shared that I got married, I asked you guys for advice.  You delivered!  Since there were so many wise words, I decided to summarize it to share with everyone.  Mostly for Vegas’ my reference.

Below are some wise words, some funny words, and some random married-life pictures.

Apparently you still get flowers delivered when you’re married.

Leaving Las Vegas (for now)

January 12, 2015 By Laura

I’ve never been so sad to leave a place.

But I’m not leaving for good, Sheryl Crow!

In an uncharacteristically impulsive move, when I flew back to from Tahoe with Vegas after we got married I decided not to take my next flight to Atlanta.  This was completely unplanned – my bags were re-checked to Atlanta, we’d been sitting in a airport bar waiting for my flight.

My bags went to Atlanta.  I stayed in Vegas.  With Vegas.

How could I leave this?!

How could I leave this?!

A Perfect 10

December 22, 2014 By Laura

I am not-so-secretly a teensy bit Type A.

In my head, I hide it well… but no.

1 more day until Vegas gets here for the holidays.  I Can’t Focus.  So I make lists (you’re not the only one Meghan).  Lists of things to cook, places to take Vegas, items to remember to bring to mom’s for Christmas, errands to run, random tasks to complete before Vegas gets here… it’s all fun to me though.

So today I bring you a list of fun things I’m focusing on to pass the time while waiting for Tuesday.  It’s a perfect 10.  Because I like lists of prime numbers or 10.

1. House Plant’s Mate

Flowers arrive from Vegas on the regular.  Last week’s delivery was a friend for House Plant – Christmas Cactus.  Now we both have mates from the desert.

Red Velvet Protein Balls [Recipe]

November 28, 2014 By Laura

Thanksgiving is over.

Officially… we’re still celebrating!

I am of the belief that you cannot begin with the Christmas festivities until Thanksgiving has passed.  And – for the love of god – don’t even think about Christmas before Halloween!

Now that we’re officially past Thanksgiving, I bring you Christmas Balls.  I’m not trying to discriminate and leave out Hanukkah… but I couldn’t get through a blog post about blue balls.  So these strangely good (for you) balls are red.  Red Velvet, in fact.

Red Velvet Protein Balls

I made these with my favorite flower-sender in mind.  Side note: the flower sender is hereby known as Vegas, as that is where the flowers originate.

Vegas loves red velvet cake.  Since I’m in Arizona with Vegas this Thanksgiving holiday (how’s that for confusing?) and these days my favorite activity is making Vegas smile, I bring you post-Thanksgiving, pre-Christmas balls.

Not just any balls though!  These red velvet-y delights are protein-packed and get their red tint from… beets!  How’s that for strange?

Red Velvet Protein Balls

In conclusion, Vegas and I wish you a pre-Merry Christmas (and Hanukkah) from Arizona the day after Thanksgiving.

Now, bust out your healthy balls and celebrate the most wonderful time of the year!

Merry Vegas

Guess who’s is who’s…

These red velvet-y protein delights are protein-packed and get their red tint from… beets! Perfect for a healthier Valentine's Day treat!

Red Velvet Protein Balls

  • 1 scoop chocolate protein powder (I used Growing Naturals Rice)
  • 1 T coconut flour
  • 1 scoop Cocoa Cardio*
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp honey
  • 1/2 T coconut oil
  • 4 Drops Capella Flavor Drops, Cake Batter (or 1/4 tsp vanilla)
  • 1/4 C unsweetened vanilla almond milk

Combine wet ingredients.  Mix in wet, adjusting milk as needed.

Roll into roughly 4 balls.  Put in freezer for your own safety storage.

Note: I order my Cocoa Cardio on iHerb (use discount code USO924 for $5-10 off your order!).  If you don’t have beet powder, you can use tsp beet powder and 1 T cocoa powder.  You can also use pureed beets here, but you’ll probably need to cut the milk in half (I haven’t tried it).

I can’t write about balls without giving Lindsay a shout out.  Thanks for inspiring me daily, my baller brother!

Do you ban and Christmas (or Hanukah) celebrations until after Turkey Day?

What is your favorite ball flavor?
