Make Money While Following Your Passion

December 26, 2016 By Laura

Life in the fast lane isn’t always satisfying.

“Forget about the fast lane. If you really want to fly, harness your power to your passion. Honor your calling. Everybody has one. Trust your heart, and success will come to you.” ~ Oprah Winfrey

Everybody has something in their life they are passionate about.  That one thing they interject into practically every conversation.  We often say “If only I could get paid to…”  But people HAVE figured out how to turn those passions into a profession.  Why shouldn’t YOU make money while following your passion?

Why not use the New Year as a starting point for a new career goal?  #adulting

If one has an affinity for cars, that can be turned into a career as an auto mechanic.  If the focus is on sports, avenues for coaching and physical rehab are open to those so inclined.  And so it goes with a zeal for fitness and nutrition as well….

Twitter Delivers

August 19, 2011 By Laura

Yesterday I failed.

Twice.  Once I tried to get too creative with baked falafel.  Then I tried to get creative with blueberry muffins.

My falafel is in the garbage.  The muffins are edible, but I would never let anyone else eat them.  At least they photographed well decently ok in the right light.

I did have a good run – fastest pace ever in a non-race run!  It had been a while since I’d run in my Newtons and I definitely giving them credit.  As advertised, I could feel them propel me forward.  (Previous review here.)

Newton Motion

Stats:

  • Distance – 4 miles
  • Time – 31:56
  • Average Pace –  7:56

In lieu of a recipe (trust me – you don’t want either of the afore mentioned), I want to write about a consumer win.

Do you ever wonder if companies are listening to consumers?  Apparently Chipotle is!

Thanks to the power of social media, Twitter, and one pro-active consumer, Chipotle will be changing their menus to make consumers aware that their pinto beans are prepared with bacon.

Seth Porges, a non-pork eating customer, discovered the beans were made with pork product (bacon) and tweeted his displeasure.

Within 2 hours the CEO of f Chipotle, Steve Ells, called Porges to apologize and rectify the situation.

Pretty cool, right?

I’m constantly impressed with the company responses I receive via Twitter.

Have you ever received a company response via Twitter?

Is anyone unpleasantly surprised about the bacon in those beans?

Advancing Socially

February 10, 2011 By Laura

Do you ever ignore a “trend” and then realize it actually caught on… and maybe you should have paid more attention?

I’m a big girl.  I can admit that I have fallen wayyyyy behind on the social media train.

#SocialMediaFail

Sure, I Facebook.  I AM human.

Beyond that, I am totally in the dark.  I don’t “get” Twitter.  Stumble?  Clearly I don’t need help falling.  And WTF is a Reddit?!

Is that a typo?  You want a rabbit? Wrong store, buddy!

In conclusion, I now Tweet and Stumble.

Here’s my Shameless Plea.  Follow me.  Stumble through this crazy web with me. Love me.

And then will someone tell me what it all means?!

Speaking of using social media… one my my league-mates made me some fresh bittersweet chocolate pudding AND and big jar of apple sauce.  It is amazing, slurp-able deliciousness.

Check out her Little Tart Bakeshop on Facebook – you won’t be sorry!
