What I Ate Without an Oven

April 8, 2015 By Laura

I spoke too soon.

One day I’ll learn to knock on wood or something.

Last week I said we were getting to some form of normalcy.  HA!  Till the flaming oven happened… so here we are with a disheveled kitchen, no oven, and some random food.  We also have NO groceries since we were supposed to have gone to the farmer’s market Sunday.  Fires really are inconvenient…

San Diego Farmer’s Market Heaven

March 30, 2015 By Laura

Just when I thought San Diego couldn’t get any better…

Seeing the 30 degree temps in Atlanta seals the deal too.

This weekend happened.  We started Friday with a new tradition: date night picnic in the park.  If you haven’t been to Balboa Park in San Diego, add it to your bucket list.  It’s huge – think Central Park on steroids.  There are 65 mile of trails, museums, a zoo, a theatre, and more gardens than I can count.

We packed turkey sandwiches, hummus, and veggies and set out for a picnic in the rose garden.  It’s my favorite part of the park.  The best part was laying around after we ate and taking in the view.

San Diego Move-In Food

March 11, 2015 By Laura

Anyone need boxes?

Actually, we posted an ad on Craigslist and someone came for them within hours!

The thing about packing that you have to unpack.  While a couple drinks (ok, maybe more than a couple) makes packing easier, it makes unpacking full of hilarious surprises.  Apparently at some point I gave up and just added IDK to a box (that’s “I don’t know” for those of you who don’t have millennial siblings or kids).

Starting a 2,000 Mile Journey

February 16, 2015 By Laura

It just got real.

Logically I knew it was real… but reality never ceases to shock me.

You make plans and get excited.  You know it’s coming and it can’t get here fast enough.  But when it ACTUALLY manifests… it’s still a reality check.

Road food is also a reality check.  That red velvet Blizzard did not suck though.

Gettin’ Quizzed on a Plane

January 26, 2015 By Laura

I’ll never tire of surveys.

How do these things take me longer than “regular” posts?

Megan nominated me for one of those Liebster award quizzes a couple of weeks ago andI’m finally getting around to it.  It’s fun airplane project as I fly back to Atlanta from San Diego.  The random pics throughout are from Vegas’ and my long weekend on the coast.

San Diego: A Long, Strange Trip

March 14, 2014 By Laura

Traveling can be quite strange.

Especially with a strange co-worker.

My co-worker is strange in the best way possible – the food-loving way!  I’ve been gone all week so there is no recipe today.  I do have pictures though!  Here is the best of San Deigo:

BBQ Tempeh Pizza

Egg spring roll (I think)

Do you try new things when to travel?

Any must-trys in California?
