BBQ Quinoa Meatloaf [Recipe]

November 16, 2015 By Laura

I have a thing against meatloaf.

Fun childhood trauma story for you today.

Once upon a time, there was a small girl.  One night her mother made meatloaf for dinner.  The girl wasn’t feeling well and didn’t want to eat the meatloaf.  Despite her complaints, her mother made the girl finish her plate.

Then tragedy struck!  The girl ran for the bathroom and was sick to her stomach.  That was the last time the child ate meatloaf.  Until today.

SoCal Tough Mudder Recap + WIAW

November 11, 2015 By Laura

We survived the Tough Mudder!

Was there really any doubt?

We had some doubts going into the Tough Mudder.  Vegas and I were coming off a week of softball and – having done this once before – I was already dreading the Arctic Enema.

We’re terrible about getting out the door in the morning, so I made our breakfast for the road.  It was an overnight creation much like this apple pie one, but with chia seeds, vanilla rice protein, cinnamon, ginger, and persimmons.

Overnight persimmon yogurt

Week in Review: Whirlwind Trip to Vegas

November 9, 2015 By Laura

We all know about what happens in Vegas.

That’s never actually worked for me.

What happens in Vegas typically stays with me.  I marry it, Instagram it, or post about it.

And that leads me to my very first submission to Meghan’s Week In Review.

Week In Review

Vegas and I spent a long weekend in Vegas.  It started a little something like this:…

Learning to Kill Spiders + WIAW

November 4, 2015 By Laura

Vegas has taught me to kill spiders.

It’s not what you think.

Vegas and I are total opposites in some ways.  She loves living things, I can’t stand them.  She brought 2 dogs and 2 birds to this marriage.  I brought a house plant.

She captures bugs in the house and releases them safely outside.  I scream like a girl and beg her to smash them.  Until now.

Killing spiders with glitter body spray might not be the best idea...

Peanut Butter Flax Protein Pancakes #Recipe + Fit Body Bakery #Giveaway!

October 28, 2015 By Laura

We’re rivaling a certain international pancake house this week.

Do pancakes ever really get old?

We got back in town from the softball tournament late Sunday and two days later I STILL hadn’t been to the grocery store.  No eggs, no milk, no bacon (just a well… apparently that causes cancer now) in the house.

Thanks to Fit Body Bakery and Fit Approach, Vegas and I had plenty of Power Up Pancake Mix to sustain us.  You’re supposed to simply add eggs and water… but seeing as how we had no eggs, I made a flax egg.  It worked like a charm!

Playing Ball and Sick Babies: WIAW with the Flu

October 21, 2015 By Laura

I’m doing what I was doing exactly a year ago.

Minus the whole being married and having the flu part.

Vegas and I are playing in the softball world series with our old Atlanta team.  We’ve won both games so far!  Last year it was in Vegas, and that’s when I claimed MY Vegas. 😉

Coors is the series sponsor. Incase you couldn’t tell.

The Anti-Inflammatory Diet Recap + WIAW

October 14, 2015 By Laura

Food can be a powerful healer.

Funny, since it can also make you sick.

Vegas and I decided to try out an anti-inflammatory diet for a couple of weeks to see if it would relieve some muscle problems we’ve been having.  She get cramps and achey feet and I have a ankle/Achilles that refuses to heal.  My fingers have also been hurting too.  32 is too young for arthritis… right?

Anti-Inflammatory Diet - great for a reset, to reduce bloat, and to relieve joint pain!

Homemade Sugar-Free Lemonade Recipe + NuNaturals #Giveaway

October 7, 2015 By Laura

Some things are embarrassingly easy.

And some are embarrassingly hard.

Today I have an easy recipe for you.  Making lemonade in the blender.

Here’s the recipe: put a bunch of lemons in a high-speed blender (I’m biased towards my Vitamix) with some water and sweetener.  Blend.  Strain.  Drink.  Boom.
