Lazy Day of WIAW Eats

April 12, 2017 By Laura

I’ve been extremely lazy this week.

I just don’t feel like cooking, blogging, cleaning… nothing.

I think it’s because we’re about to have a LOT going on.  In preparation, I’m slacking.  Does anyone else do that?  Seems legit…

THIS IS A BIG DEAL #whyimarch

January 24, 2017 By Laura

I just need everyone to stop for a second.

Because I think I may scream.

The reality is that I haven’t stopped screaming in my head since Friday.  Yeah, yeah… this isn’t a political blog.  But THIS IS A BIG DEAL.

This is why we march.

Sometimes I forget… sometimes I just can’t

November 16, 2016 By Laura

I’ve been know to forget to post for WIAW.

Last night I just couldn’t.  Could.  Not.

I decided it would be fun to pour wine at a new tasting room a few nights a week.  One thing lead to another… and now I’m the interim manager.

This means I’ve been here EVERY day.

Saying Good-Bye to My Childhood Home

September 14, 2015 By Laura

I went MIA last week.

This week may be the same.

Vegas and I headed to Atlanta to help my mom pack up and move.  This is the house my dad built when I was a year old.  My mom, my sisters, and me have lived here the majority of our lives.  Since my sisters and I all moved away and my dad died it’s just too big and empty for mamma.

That doesn’t make moving out of it any easier.

First thing's first.

First thing’s first.

Observations From the Nude Beach

July 27, 2015 By Laura

I’m not an exhibitionist.

But I’ll go to the exhibition.

Sunday was a gorgeous day in San Diego.  It was 78 degrees, nice breeze, and not a cloud in the sky.  You know, typical.  I did what all Southern Californians do on a day like that and went to the beach.  What wasn’t SO typical was that the beach I went to was a nude beach.

Black’s Beach is actually one of the best beaches I’ve been to so far.  There are volleyball nets, horseshoe, and a nice 2 mile stretch to walk.  It’s not crowded (Americans are generally scared of nudity) and it’s right below a hang gliding take off, so you can lay there and watch the pretty parachutes.  My main motivation for going to Black’s was the hike down.  It’s really short, but it’s a fun, steep trek down a cliff to get to the water.

It’s Not Always Sunny in San Diego (or Vegas)

July 22, 2015 By Laura

It’s been one of those weeks.

I’m not really sure what day it is…

I started the week in San Diego, now I’m in Vegas, and I’m driving back to San Diego tonight.  What’s more confusing is that this weekend in San Diego it POURED down rain.  I thought it wasn’t supposed to rain in paradise?!  (Actually this is a good thing since California is having a drought.)

It was also Pride weekend, so I watched the wet hot mess from a bar.

Tour My House

May 18, 2015 By Laura

This is what happens when you can’t sleep on a plane.

Sadly, no mile high club.  Vegas is so conservative…

Today we’re in Greece, but as I write this I’m on the first leg of our trip.  We caught the first flight out to JFK (read: way too early).  We didn’t really go to sleep and I am finding it impossible to sleep on the plane… so please excuse any typos, bad jokes, and general rambling.  Basically proceed as usual.

Before we left I had the house cleaned and thought it the perfect time to take pictures of our new digs in San Diego.  We lucked out with the space – there’s a lot of it.  That’s hard to come by in our neighborhood!  We live in a flat that’s part of a 4-unit building.  Our land lady goddess lives above us, and two other couples are below us.  It’s like a little Melrose Place (for those of you old enough to remember that show).

The first tour stop is the living room, our long hallway, and the bird room.

Living room and office…
