Playing in the Softball World Series + Green Tea Energy Giveaway

November 2, 2015 By Laura

Vegas and I are giant kids.

Giant wine-drinking kids.

We first met 7 years ago playing softball and reunited last year when I flew to Vegas to play ball in a tournament.  This year we played in that same tournament again, this time on our old Atlanta team.

Laid Back

In 4 days we played 12 softball games, ate 5 bags of jerky, and drank more beer than I will ever admit.

Between the flu, the heat, injuries, and all those games… we were doing everything possible to hold ourselves together.  At one point I had pain patches taped to my elbow, a brace over that, an ankle brace, and a thick coat of IcyHot on my hamstring and groin.  Vegas was coated in IcyHot too, and she had two hamstring braces on… on the same leg.  The night before our last day, we toasted our wins with pain pills.  It was hilarious.

[Tweet “Playing in the Softball World Series – 12 games in 4 days?! #fitfluential #sweatpink”]

Pain pill cheers

To help us hold ourselves together, we made sure to have breakfast every day and drinking Vitamin Pit Stop’s USANA Rev 3 and water at the field.  I prefer it to coffee, especially when it’s hot outside.  Because it’s natural energy and antioxidants from green and black tea it doesn’t give you the shakes.  I don’t do well drinking plain water, so the lemon-y tea flavor helped me stay hydrated too.

They sent me a bunch to try, and to share with you in a giveaway (see bottom of post).  Whoot!

Rev 3

My socks are my flare.

I also used the Rev3 as my pre-workout.  Yes, I totally went to the hotel gym after playing.  No, I’m not crazy.  I only did it once and it was early in the series.  Vegas was in bed with the flu and I needed to entertain myself.

And who can resist an empty gym?!

That empty gym feeling

If you’ve been reading for a while, you know I travel with all sorts of fun things.  When I was prepping for my first competition, I brought 21 meals with me on a business trip.  That’s not necessary these days, but I still like to have the comforts of home.

We had room service breakfasts some days, but I had our morning cocktail ingredients from home.  I also brought our vitamins and supplements, and the Natural Calm for bedtime.  We stopped at a grocery store for ACV (it’s a serious addiction).  I also had Quest bars, jerky, protein powder, and airplane pretzels for snacks.

I discovered I have a teammate who shares my love of sweet potatoes.  I had no idea anyone else ever traveled with them!  When I conveyed my envy, I was surprised with one at the field one morning.

Eating sweet potato out of foil.  Some things never change.

Back to softball.  Our team, Laid Back, is good… but there were 28 other really good teams playing.  I never thought we’d make it as far as we did (terrible, I know).

Out of 29 teams, we finished in 2nd place.  And we were totally happy with that.

Wow congrats! Dying to hear about your Tough Mudder- I did a Warrior Dash a few years ago but the Tough Mudder sounds like its on a whole other level!

I think Tough Mudder is the longest so it hardest… but they’re all so much fun with the obstacles!

Congrats for taking second place! And my weekend spent in bed feels even lazier now. I used to travel with tupperware meals, too. My, how the times have changed!

Wow 2nd place! That’s wonderful 🙂 What a truly active week you’ve had. Packing food is necessary for travel I’ve learned lately, mostly through you. I have a much better travel experience when I have foods that I know make me feel good 🙂

    THOSE SOCKS! I love.

and I want to try the Rev3 – I could TOTALLY use an energy boost just to get through this day – I woke up to eleventy threeve things wrong with my website, two decisions to be made with my investment accounts, and a double court booking at the racquet club today (YAY for that one… I seriously need it now!).

congrats again on the tournament – I love that it is what reunited you two 🙂

We’ll have to compare socks one day. My favorites are the ones that say “Bad Ass” and have arrows pointing up. 😉

Yay 2nd place! That’s awesome well done!
Can’t believe you did a tough mudder after all that plus being poorly! I bet you would be quite happy to just sit and stay still for the next week.
And yeah we always travel with our own food, sometimes we need it, other times we come home with most of it but the main thing is we are always prepared and never have to go hungry!

Oh my gawd. Beef Jerky. That stuff = my life. I remember when I was younger, my mom got me 15 bags of beef jerky for XMAS. It cures cancer?

    No. No it doesn’t. LMFAO

    • Laura says

      November 12, 2015 at 12:19 PM

Whatever. It cures all the things… in my head…

I sometimes travel with my own food, but sometimes it’s just not convenient, so I just scrounge around and find stuff at the airport. I usually cringe just a tad at the price.

Oh my gosh … ditto on the ACV! I get a little antsy if I get low! I also love using BCAAs and have been using the Bluebonnet kind (vegan) and just love them as much as I did the ON brand when I used those over the summer. Sweet potatoes in foil are totally legit travel food too!:)

I get antsy too – we’ve definitely made a late night trip or two so I could have ACV for my morning drink.

That sounds like a very intense few days (weeks?) but filled with love, fun, and friends 🙂 I have considered opting ACV into my routine multiple times…what do you find is the most significant benefit?

    • Laura says

      November 12, 2015 at 12:25 PM

I love ACV for SO many reasons – I write a post on it here: https://www.sprint2thetable.com/2013/01/my-morning-cocktail-wiaw/.

The biggest two for me it he morning are digestion and energy.
