Last Chance to Be Productive

November 9, 2012 By Laura

Friday.

That day of the week where you can make a final push to get your work done and start Monday with a clean inbox.  Your last chance to be productive for the week.  Or you should screw around on the internet reading surveys like this.

Everyone seems do have done this Last Chance survey this week.  I think the first place I saw it was on Brittany’s blog.  I’m joining the party today!

Last food you ate?

Vitamix money shot

A post-workout protein shake.  Butternut-Cherry Bomb.  I started making this 2 years ago and it remains on of my favorites.

Last beverage you drank?

Water.  I drink 120 oz a day.  Constant peeing.

Last workout?

Leg day!  It was my FIRST workout post-competition (except for some walk/runs).  I was so thrilled to get back in the gym that I didn’t complain that it was legs.  Next competition is March!

Last thing you pinned?

Alexandra’s Spunky Monkey Pumpkin Pie.  Protein, peanut flour, and pumpkin.  Does it get any better?

Last text message you sent?

A text to my trainer complaining that I now have to take 2 weekly rest days.  Lame.

Last blog you visited?

Some random blog while in search of a homemade cottage cheese recipe.

Last tweet you sent?

A reminder to ever my NuttZo giveaway!

Last place you visited?

The ATM.  I walked through the drive thru on my way back from the gym.  Only slightly concerned I was going to get mugged.

Last time you did ab work?

Wednesday.  It was my last “off-plan” day.  Normally I’m not allowed to do much ab work, so before I got my new training plan I planked.  Am I really that neurotic?

Last show you watched?

Grey’s Anatomy is on as I’m drafting this post.  It’s a half-assed effort at watching… I’m paying more attention to writing this.

Last thing you baked?

Mama Pea’s Pop Tarts.  Last Friday I promised I’d make the post-competition.  So glad I did.  Instead of her strawberry filling, I made a pumpkin-cinnamon center.

What is the last thing you Instagramed?

My new Harbinger weightlifting gloves.  A little post-competition treat to myself!

Last item on your to-do list today?

Review an Excel model in advance of a client call.  It’s as much fun as it sounds.

Do you like sprints, or do you like steady state better?

If I have to be on a treadmill, sprints.  Outside I like to steady run and watch the scenery.

Do you need coffee to get going in the morning?

No.  I like my morning cocktail (apple cider vinegar and FitMixer Aminos), but I do prefer to have a cup after lunch to warm up (why must they keep it so cold in my office?!) and get me through the afternoon.

***

Don’t forget to enter to win a jar of NuttZo nut butter! Click here to enter.  Contest ends Tuesday at midnight!

The end of the day can’t get here fast enough because Allie and Heather are coming to spend the weekend with me!!!  So.  Excited.

Pick one (or 2 or 3…) and share your answers!

Do the powers that be keep your office at arctic temps?

Yay for two rest days! You will learn to love it 😉

I drink acv in the mornings too, but I do it for my skin, as it fights folliculitis. But then I have coffee.

The last place I visited was le 15 gourmand, a restaurant where I’m looking to do an internship in the spring.

The temperatures at the université are pretty warm. Which is a nice change from the last university I attended which was so arctic me and my fellow students sat in class with hats, gloves, jackets and scarves on. My friend even put money down for a space heater that she brought to class.

      November 10, 2012 at 7:29 AM

I do notice it helps my skin. I use it as a toner at night as well.

Did the university not have heat?! that’s insane. I wouldn’t be able to concentrate.

Is it bad I want to go swimming in that smoothie…..?

      • Laura says

        November 10, 2012 at 7:30 AM

        LOL! Thank you!

You would have a hard time swimming in that thickness, but it would be fun to try. 🙂

    November 9, 2012 at 5:20 AM

Ditto to what Miz said above! 🙂

Love Mama Peas’s Pop Tarts. I did a fresh strawberry filling. Yum!

Those pop tarts look SO legit…I was so impressed when I saw your instagram! Trust me you will grow to love 2 rest days a week…at least your legs will be spared :)! As for the last day to be productive–> one of the only pros of working half days on Saturdays is that it gives me time to get on top of things for the week ahead, which means Mondays are a breeze!

    • Laura says

      November 10, 2012 at 7:32 AM

They actually weren’t hard to make! You just have to keep the dough cold.

Good luck being productive today. 🙂

I love cinnamon pop tarts. Well, back in the day, I did. I haven’t had one for probably 15 years.

Last thing I ate was a soft pretzel last night. I didn’t need it, but I live by the “feed a cold, starve a fever” rule. I Needed it!

I don’t Need coffee in the morning, but I prefer to have it. It’s my treat to myself.

Have a great day, Laura and enjoy your weekend!!

I did a tabata workout yesterday that left me feeling just a little tired!! It was a good one.

    And another competition?! Awesome!

  12. Heather (Where's the Beach) says

    November 9, 2012 at 8:20 AM

I need some new lifting gloves. I mean, I only have 3 pair LOL. I love new fit gear though. As for steady state vs sprints. If I have to do the dreadmill, it’s all about intervals. Outside, unless I’m doing a specific speed workout, it’s mostly steady state. My last workout was yoga after a run.

  13. Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) says

    November 9, 2012 at 8:34 AM

I did tabata this morning and eating my protein packed oats right now!

Have a great weekend with the ladies! That should be fun!

  15. Amanda @ Romancing the Unusual says

    November 9, 2012 at 9:04 AM

I just pinned that pumpkin pie recipe, too. It’s like heaven in pie form!

  16. Amanda @ .running with spoons. says

    November 9, 2012 at 9:28 AM

Constant peeing – yessssss. Drives me nuts, especially in the middle of the night. 80% of the time, water would be the last drink that I have, 15% it’s tea, and the other 5 would probably be coffee. I wouldn’t say that I need it to get going in the mornings, but I do really love the taste so I drink it anyways 😀

    • Laura says

      November 10, 2012 at 7:44 AM

Yes! I feel like an 80 year old because I can’t sleep through the night.

Last workout: chest and tris. Today is my leg day. woof.

    • Laura says

I saw that Heather did this survey today. Even though you’re miles apart, it’s like you’re still connected. 😉 I am snagging this one for my use as well too.

Happy Friday! And I’m snagging that pumpkin pie recipe too.

  20. Sarah @ The Smart Kitchen says

    November 9, 2012 at 10:40 AM

I’m enjoying the fact that everyone is doing this survey. Maybe I’ll actually do it, too. Maybe.

I am sitting here in my fleece, drinking tea because I am so flippin’ cold right now. I am always cold though so I don’t know if it is just me or if it really is cold in the building. I can see the sun shining outside, so I have hope for feeling warm when I finally exit the building. One place that is warm is the bathroom. Good thing I, too, drink an excessive amount of water and have to go there a lot.

    • Laura says

      November 10, 2012 at 8:04 AM

All the cool kids are doing it. 😉

I used to go to the bathroom and run my hands under the warm water to heat up at work. Love a warm bathroom.

Last text message I sent was to my friend “Which happy hour are we going to tonight?”, last thing I ate- snacking on some almonds as we speak, last thing I baked were some pumpkin spice cookies for my friend’s birthday.

    • Laura says

      November 10, 2012 at 8:18 AM

Most ab work grows the muscle and makes the abs wider. For competitions, the look is to have a tiny waist and broader shoulders/hips to get the “V.”

  36. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin says

    November 11, 2012 at 6:34 PM

I want to make Alexandra’s pumpkin pie too! I’ll have to make it with coconut flour instead of peanut flour, but I bet it will still taste awesome!

Haha and I can totally relate about constantly peeing. The worst is when I have to go at 4:30 am and I can’t get back to sleep after that, which has been happening a lot lately. Ugh! 😛

    • Laura says

      November 12, 2012 at 12:10 PM

Butternut squash cherry bomb smoothie? I NEED that! I’ve been craving a cherry smoothie. And I’ve never had butternut squash before (not really a squash fan) and I’ve been wanting to just get it over with and trying it. This smoothie sounds like JUST the thing 🙂

    • Laura says

      November 12, 2012 at 12:16 PM

It is in my top 5. I’d be hard pressed to choose between that and the carrot cake, oatmeal cookie, and cherry-ginger. Definitely a good starting place to trying squash again… or you could use sweet potato!
