Flowers, Strawberries, and Pumpkin + WIAW

November 19, 2014 By Laura

I got nothin’.

Actually, I feel like I have everything.

flowers

ThisΒ WIAWΒ I ate well. Β Grinning like aΒ fool.

Read on for my eats, and then check outΒ Jenn’s blogΒ for everyone else’s delicious creations!

Breakfast:

After myΒ morning cocktail, I ateΒ my morning sludgeΒ with a mini baked banana muffin.

Sludge and muffins

Mid-Morning Snack:

I mixed my oats with the NEW Quest vanilla milkshake protein. Β ToppedΒ with strawberries.Β It tasted like cake batter.

Quest Protein Oats

Lunch:

SizzlefishΒ SalmonΒ with strawberries.Β With red pepper flakes. Β It’s a thing.

Salmon and strawberries

Mid-Afternoon Snack(s):

MoreΒ SizzlefishΒ – this time is was leftover scallops tossed in a sauce of pumpkin, salsa, apple cider vinegar, and cayenne. Β With spicyΒ butternut mac ‘n cheeseΒ (recipe coming Friday!) and Brussels.

Sizzlefish pumkin scallops

Dinner:

Once again, dinner was thanks toΒ Garnish & Gather! Β I pick these up every Monday to cook on Tuesday nights. Β It’s convenient, and all of the (local!) ingredients all packaged up for a fresh, quick meal.

Tonight I shared the meal with my mom! Β We hadΒ chicken burgers with pecan nut butter, persimmon ketchup and amino acid and vinegar kale chips on localΒ buns. Β I added rye whiskey to the ketchup. Β It was a good decision.

Garnish and Gather chicken burger

Dessert:

Unpictured dark chocolate and whiskey with mamma. πŸ˜‰

***

It’s hard to believe Thanksgiving is next week! Β Are you ready?

What’s your favorite flower?

Do you like kale chips? Β What’s you flavor do you make the most?Β

I need to get on the Sizzlefish band wagon! All of these photos are making me drool.

No I can not believe Thanksgiving is next week, and no I’m not ready! Must get my shopping list together before they run out of free range, organic Tur-Kays! πŸ™‚

The amount of seafood you eat in a day (and variety!) I am in love with! Seriously, the fact that you SNACKED on scallops….we need to hang out. STAT.

My favourite flowers are ones you don’t need to water. Or ones which are fake.

Pecan nut butter is a thing? WHY HAVEN’T I… Oh and persimmon ketchup? And whisky? Too many of my favourite things here. I’m not really a fan of flowers – but roses are pretty classic and hard not to like. I’d like to think someone who wanted to give me flowers would get me some nut butter instead. That’s how I show love πŸ˜‰

Butternut mac n cheese? Can’t wait for the recipe. YUM. I do love kale chips but I tend to not get them dry enough so they’re more like roasted kale or I burn the crap out of them and they disintegrate. Roses are my favorite flower.

    • Laura says

      November 24, 2014 at 2:00 PM

That’s typically my problem with kale chips too. These worked out well because I was patient and baked them on a lower temp. Doesn’t happen often!

Gimme the whiskey, pass the sludge. That thing looks so foul – Lol. Although, sometimes the most foul things taste the best so no judgies. Who gave you those beautiful flowers?! They’re gorgeous πŸ™‚ Happy Hump Day Laura! -Iva

I should order scallops from Sizzlefish. For some reason, no one carries them anymore and I’m not driving 30 minutes to Whole Foods to get them.
