Chili-Lime Watermelon & Jicama Salad is deliciously refreshing on a hot summer day. The Tajin puts a spicy spin on sweet summer watermelon.

You guys.  I know I shouldn’t complain after begging to move back to Atlanta for 3 years… but sweet lawd it is HOT and HUMID!

I went to college in Florida for two years (Go Noles).  It rained every single day at 4:30, but I expect that insanity from Florida.  Georgia, you are not Florida.  Stop being a poser.  I swear it never rained this much before…

In any case, I’m schvitzing.  My misery has tasty company though!  While I wish Vegas were my company (yup, she’s still not here yet), in this case, it’s food.  This hot, humid summer was the inspiration for this no-cook, super easy, deliciously refreshing Chili-Lime Watermelon & Jicama Salad!

Chili-Lime Watermelon & Jicama Salad gets a pop from Tajin (a spicy, salty, lime-y spice blend).  When paired with fruit, it creates a crave-worthy sweet 'n salty combo.

Both jicama and watermelon are composed mostly of water.  What do you need on a hot day?  WATER.  In your body, not pounding down on you at 4:30 running in what feels like a damn steam bath.  I digress.

Add a generous sprinkle of Tajin to really make it pop.  For those that haven’t tried it, Tajin is a spicy, salty, lime-y spice blend.  When paired with fruit, it creates a crave-worthy sweet ‘n salty combo.

Pro tip: try rimming your margarita glass with Tajin.  Epic combo.

This Chili-Lime Watermelon & Jicama Salad is the perfect, refreshing thing to eat on a hot day!

This salad is the perfect thing to eat on a hot day.  It’s not going to weigh you down, but if you want to add some carb-y goodness, scoop it up with tortilla chips!

For you spice-averse people, don’t worry about the Tajin being too much.  It’s not a sriracha-level spice.  😉

Cold watermelon is the BEST on a hot summer day! That’s funny that you’re talking about the weather in ATL, because I was thinking the other day that your runs lately (and the commentary from your humorous weather app) have been looking toasty haha

I WISH it would rain here! It’s so grossly hot and humid and it’s hard not to complain, especially when I actually ENJOY the winter. This combo looks exactly like what I need to bring down to the lake today! I’ll be the envy of all the stay at home moms 🙂 Stay cool my friend!

This is basically what I live off of while in Mexico with the most excellent addition of watermelon. I’ve done chili lime watermelon and chili lime jicama before and I love both dishes, but you are epicsauce for bring them together!!!
Well, you are epicsauce anyway 😀

It’s been hot as hell in CT as well and I have been eating all the watermelon. I will have to try it in this awesome sounding salad!

And this is why I don’t want to move back to Texas. Haha BRUTAL heat. I kinda think I like snow better. Gasp! Feed me. This would cure all humidity woes. 😉

It’s ridiculously hot and humid here too. I pretty much need to be at the beach/pool or inside. There’s no in between.

See I didn’t think we could get tajin spice here but a few months ago I got a 100% watermelon juice ice pop from a stall at the farmers market. The woman then passed me the tajin and told me to sprinkle some of this on top, which of course I did. Damn it was so good!

I love the idea of adding some spice to this! I never would have thought to pair jicama and watermelon, but that sounds and looks so delicious and refreshing!

When I was super nauseated for two months, JICAMA was my bestie!!! Still is, but I am not buying it constantly like I was before. Have you ever heard of JICA CHIPS? Now those fuckers are tasty! Dehydrated Jicama … Crunchy AF!!

I gotta get me more of these summer fruits but i may skip tajin completely (not a fan)! i’m digging cherries right now though, probably cuz i just finished snacking on some. for juicy, i also really like asian pears plus it got some “crisp” in its bite! yum.
