Strange But Good Trials

I have some strange friends.

 

In the most delicious sense of the word.

One of my favorite things about #strangebutgood every week is all of the fun ideas I get from all of the link ups.  I pin them to the #strangebutgood board for safe keeping until I can make them.  Last week’s links were so good I’ve already tried two!

Exhibit A

Chocolate PB Pancakes

Arman’s Sea Salt Dark Chocolate Waffles Pancakes.  I basically followed his recipe, except I reduced the milk so they would work as pancakes and I replace the sugar with Xylitol.  They were the fluffiest rounds of deliciousness I’ve made in a while!

My topping was peanut flour sauce (peanut flour + stevia + coconut milk) and the following strange creation…

Cocoa-Maca Pancakes

Christa’s Chocolate Maca Hemp Seed Spread has been my topping of choice lately.  It was so easy!  I just dumped everything in my Vitamix and blended away.  I left mine a little chunkier than Christa – I’m a fan of crunchy nut butters, so I thought this should be similarly treated.

I couldn’t decide if I wanted chocolate spread or a little #yolkporn atop my protein pancakes yesterday.  So I had both.

Other things this is good on: ice cream, protein bowls, apple slices, carrots, sweet potatoes… your finger…

Then there’s the honor of having someone actually brave MY #strangebutgood recipes!  Both Megan and Heather braved my Creamy (Raw) Red Pepper Soup and gave it the Instagram post of approval!

    I put nut/seed butter on oats and ice cream every day. One is melty, one not so much, but both fantastic. Those would be my favorite. The weirdest things I have ever topped with nut butter was a fish filet. That was pretty darn good, actually. Thanks for hosting, as always!

    YAY! I loved your soup and will definitely be making it frequently!! Thanks for sharing!
    OMG … crawfish boils. I want to like the idea, because it’s outside, having fun, enjoying good food, celebratory … but I’m sorry, I just can’t get into the tearing off the heads thing. Makes me shudder! Hope you have fun anyway :).

      Let me know if you try it! Some people thought the raw thing was strange… it was good though!

    Thank you for sharing that Hemp and Maca spread!!! I have Maca but I never know what to use it for besides just adding it to my oats! I am going to make it this weekend!

      I add it to smoothies and yogurt bowls too. It was definitely an acquired taste for me though!

    I think having someone make your dish AND love it is the ultimate seal of approval. It makes me grin ear to ear when it happens. Oh and I still want to try that raw red pepper soup. It’s not warm enough here yet, but come summertime I’ll be trying it.

    I need to still try Arman’s recipe- glad it turned out as good in pancake form :)! Recently I’ve been adding salt as an oats topping- it balances out the overall sweetness & adds a nice kick to it. I’m starting to think that a runny egg might be a delicious topper too!

    Ok, I just have to say WHOA! Because I totally read that as yolkporn is good on ice cream…I was like, what the hell, woman?! THIS is where I draw the line! Lol! But it’s good to fiiiiiiiiiiinally be able to catch up with you and figure out what the heck this hemp seed spread business is all about…I’ve only been seeing it plastered all over your IG for the last month! Oh and look at that, my mug made the blog! ;)

      That would be strange even for me! There is a place in ATL that is serving raspberry + lard ice cream right now though… I dunno…
