Eating All My Food + WIAW

My fridge is (almost) empty.

I’m in panic mode.

This was my fridge after dinner last night:

The yogurt and kombucha are gone now too.

Why so void of food?  Well, it’s now filled with juices.  I’m doing a cleanse.  The awesome people at Skinny Limits reached out to me to try their 3 day cleanse… normally I’d balk at the idea, but after an indulgent holiday season and a year (or more) of packing in protein, I decided to give my body a rest.

For the next 3 days, 6 times a day, these are my meals:

Skinny Limits

There will be a full review coming, but if you’d like to follow along in real-time check out my Instagram.

This WIAW I made sure to thoroughly enjoy my last day of solids til Saturday.  I relished every last morsel.

Read on for my eats, and then check out Jenn’s blog for everyone else’s delicious creations!

Breakfast:

The usual apple cider morning cocktail, was followed by a roasted grapefruit.

Then that was followed by a very white-ish-brown meal of a puffed corn cracker, turkey, and #yolkporn sprinkled with red pepper flakes.

Greek yogurt mixed with a little stevia and a lot of cinnamon for “dessert.”

Mid-Morning Snack:

More turkey, mixed with my wasabi-blue cheese dressing and zucchini with a slice of Ezekial toast.

Lunch:

Turbot, carrots, hummus, and a Sriracha Veggie Muffin.  Those muffins are great from the freezer, by  the way.

Mid-Afternoon Snack:

Maple-Bourbon Roasted Chicken left over from a Monday lunch at Metro Fresh with a side of asparagus and more (unpictured) hummus.  I’m loving Whole Foods’ omega hummus with flax and walnuts!

Dinner:

There was a TON of traffic and by the time I finally got home (an hour late) I was hangry.  I nibbled on veggies while I cooked.  I sautéed asparagus, mushrooms, and spinach while making a mix of hummus, cayenne, and tuna.  I wrapped all that up, pressed it in my George Foreman grill, and finished it with a drizzle of fig-balsamic reduction.

My pre-dessert dessert was my favorite cocoa-roasted kabocha topped with peanut flour sauce (I get my peanut flour on iHerb - use discount code USO924 for $5-10 off your order) and cacao nibs.

Dessert:

They say to ease into a cleanse… I did not.  I admit it – I panicked and ate the last of everything that I thought would be tempting.  Fully aware this isn’t how it’s meant to be done.  #sorryimnotsorry

I made my 150 Calorie Chocolate Protein Cake, but topped with a lot of Greek yogurt-cinnamon “icing,” sprinkles, and cacao nibs.

Then I finished off a pint of Arctic Zero ice cream, almond butter, whipped cream, homemade magic shell, and hemp seeds.

My “magic shell” is just equal parts melted coconut butter and cocoa with a little stevia.

And then I had a Red Velvet Protein Bar. I needed a night-cap.  Bam,

I hope my trainer continues to be too busy to read my blog.  He’s going to hate this cleanse.  LOL!

Have you ever done a juice cleanse?

Do you ever go through a day and realize 75%of your food was color-less?  So weird for me!

I AM ON THE FLOOR. THE FLOOR I TELL YOU! I CANNOT believe YOU are on a cleanse. SAY WHATTTTT?!?!?! I wish that I was in Atlanta (or SF?? Not sure if you are traveling over there this Saturday) on Saturday when this cleanse is OVER because I would LOVE to join you on your EPIC FEAST of re-feeding! LOL! Love me a delicious ALL YOU CAN EAT SUSHI BUFFET!!!

    1. Laura

LOL! I ate 3 helpings of homemade pasta!

  2. Debbie @ Live from La Quinta

I really don’t think I could handle a cleanse. I need solid food! I’ll be interested to see how it goes.

    1. Laura

It was a tough 3 days… but I have SO much energy now!

  3. Christine @ Love, Life, Surf

I haven’t done a cleanse. I’m not sure that I could? I’ve been curious about it and curious to hear about your experience too.

    1. Laura

I bet you could! I posted the recap today… it was rough but I feel great now!

  4. Julie

So I haven’t had grapefruit in so long but we have some and I want to roast them in the oven. Best way to have them! Good luck on the juicing.

    1. Laura

Isn’t it? I bought more to do this week!

  5. PavementRunner

It all looks so yummy and so healthy… my brain might explode.

  6. Heather @ Kiss My Broccoli

Haha! Omg, girl! I’d have totally done the same thing with the desserts at dinner! I can’t believe you’re doing a cleanse for THREE WHOLE DAYS! May the force be with you…sorry, that’s all I could think to say! ;)

    1. lindsay

      ditto!

  7. Angela @ Happy Fit Mama

I’ve never done a cleanse and I’m not sure I want to. I think I’d be a maniac after 1 day of only being able to drink juice. Good luck!

    1. Laura

It hurt at the time, but I feel SO good after!

  8. Lucie@FitSwissChick

I did several cleanses back in my ‘Iwanttobesizezero’-times – and I hated it, but would have never admitted it. Sorry :-) Nowadays I can not even stand half a day without food. Good luck!
I love the sprinkles by the way.

    1. Laura

Definitely not a good way to lose weight! I addressed that in my review today. :)

  9. Ericka @ The Sweet Life

Ooh your meals look extra tasty, especially that grapefruit! I have never done a juice cleanse though I’ve considered it. I heard good and bad so it’s hard to decide. I think I’d only do it for a day if I did though.

    1. Laura

Honestly, I’d do at least 2 days to get the full effect. I’ve done the Arden’s garden 2 Day Detox before and liked it.

  10. Laura @ Mommy Run Fast

I tried Skinny Limits in December but found out I was pregnant before it arrived and didn’t “just” juice- I incorporated them into my week and shared with family… but they are surprisingly good!

  11. Grubarazzi

Can’t wait to hear how it goes for you!

  12. Sam @ Better With Sprinkles

I’ve never tried a juice cleanse…I think I could handle three days, but I’d probably be pretty miserable. Good luck!

  13. Alex @ therunwithin

good luck on the cleanse, I think my fear would be I would hate the taste of some of the juices and then be starving haha.

    1. Laura

They were actually really good! The cashew was like dessert.

  14. Jody - Fit at 56

I am definitely not a cleanse person… I get plenty of bathroom time with my foods now. ;) PLUS, I don’t even really want to do that so… GOOD LUCK! ;)

The foods look spectacular as usual…. I always love seeing your sprinkles!

    1. Laura

LOL! It’s not just about poo. It was a fabulous reset and energy booster!

  15. Heather (Where's the Beach)

I hate it when I get hangry. Happened to me last night. It was kind of ugly around my household for about 30 minutes. I’ve never done a cleanse. I’ll be curious to hear more about it, especially since you workout so hard. I guess that’s what I’ve always sort of worried most about.

  16. RavieNomNoms

Dude, I really don’t know if I could do a cleanse. I am terrible about not being hungry after only drinking liquid. I think it more of a mind game than anything else. Good luck!!

  17. Shashi @ http://runninsrilankan.com

Red pepper flakes are awesome with egg yolks! I had a small addiction to homemade coconut oil/cocoa magic shell recently – it is so much better than the store bought stuff!
I have never done a juice cleanse – Good luck to you, Laura – looking forward to hearing about how it works for you!

  18. Morganne @ NutButterRunner

Ahhh I have thought about juice cleanses just to “clean out the system”, but have yet to actually try one. I am looking forward to reading your review!

    1. Laura

I definitely covered the poo aspect in the my review today. LOL!

  19. Megan (The Lyons' Share)

Pre-dessert dessert!!!!!! My husband and I say that EVERY NIGHT and we think we’re the only ones in the world who have just a tiny something right after dinner and then a “real” dessert later. I am so sending this to him right now! Can’t wait to hear about the cleanse – always been something I’ve been interested in trying just to see what it was like, but never know how it would work WITH my exercise (which I’d be willing to ease off on but not give up completely). This company in particular is one that I’ve looked into and looks like one of the best!

  20. lindsay

haha good luck! i don’t think i could do a cleanse but i could definitely drink those juices anytime! I’ll come eat your food you can’t have, k? or maybe drink?? LOL!

    1. Laura

I want THOSE drinks. I’ll share with you, brother. ;)

  21. Heather @ Better With Veggies

I can’t WAIT to hear what you think, I think we talked about my curiosity at the cleanse idea before. Can’t wait to hear all the details!!

  22. Amanda @runtothefinish

I did their cleanse and have to say I was shocked to not be starving. HOWEVER, I needed to chew so I ended up eating almonds each day. I’ll be interested more in what you think the 2-3 days after the cleanse

    1. Laura

I had almonds and gum everyday. It’s amazing how you miss such a simple act.

  23. Kaila @healthyhelperblog!

Pretty sure I’d pass out a on juice cleanse! GIVE ME ALL THE FOOD!

  24. Nicole @ FruitnFitness

Your food is always so creative and filled with different flavor combinations, I’ll be excited to hear how this juice cleanse goes for you. The past few days I have been eating spinach with most every meal so there has been a lot of green.

    1. Laura

Thank you so much! The clease made me appreciate solids more. :)

  25. Lauren @ Dash of Soul

Good luck with the cleanse! I don’t think I could do it but I’m always kind of wanting to try it anyways. I look forward to hearing how you feel while you’re on it!

    1. Laura

Thanks Lauren! I posted the review today. It was hard, but I feel great now!

  26. Kierston

Dessert looks incredible. Actually, everything looks great! The yolk though, wow. hehe

  27. Choc Chip Uru

You deserve all this delicious food before the cleanse, good luck my friend!

    Cheers

  28. purelytwins

good luck with the cleanse! loved your instagram video :)

    1. Laura

Thank you! It was hard, but I’m glad I did it.

  29. Gina @ Health, Love, and Chocolate

I’ve never done a full cleanse (I like food also hah), but I am an avid juicer so I am curious to know how it goes for you. I’ve gathered from Insta that you are hungry, but I’m sure there will be more details to come. ;-)

  30. Carla

    IM SO WEIRD
Im a hardcore intuitive eater who has recently become so curious about JUICE CLEANSING!!!!!!

  31. Jess

I loved all the kombucha in your fridge! Good luck with the cleanse, the closest I’ve ever come to doing one was just eating greens on Day 1 of an elimination diet…. which only last until dinner because I caved!! Make sure you renourish yourself with lots of protein and veggies!!

    1. Laura

I’ve always been curious to do an elimination diet, but it is sooooo long. I don’t think I’d make it!

  32. Hannah

I baulk at your American spelling. ;)
