Peanut Flour Love + WIAW

What’s more exciting than packages?

Chocolate cake.

I came home last night to a delivery from iHerb.  After a massage and a trip to Whole Foods, it was the icing on the chocolate cake.

Use discount code USO924 for $5-10 off your order!

Many of these are new to me – toffee stevia, Walden Farms caramel, and the peanut butter protein powder.  I have been out of tahini and coconut flour for a while, so I’m excited to use those again.  I bet I can use it all together!

Do you think I got enough peanut flour?  I love that stuff.  It’s better than the other stuff (ahem… PB2) because it’s just the de-fatted nuts.  No added sodium or sugar.

What should you do with your peanut flour?  Allow me to help…

There’s a lot more where that came from… check out my Recipage.  I may or may not have an addiction…

This WIAW was a good one.  I was much more prepared this week to stick to my plan.  I’m using more quinoa to help me hit my carbs.  This time I made extra to keep in the freezer for quick access next week too.

Breakfast:

Of course I had my morning cocktail (apple cider vinegar, water, Glutamine, and Fitmixer Aminos) to start my day out right.

Then it was on to the #yolkporn.  I made Toad in a Hole with my P28 bread and local eggs.  I ate it with a side of kiwi and cottage cheese mixed with cinnamon.

Mid-Morning Snack:

This was my post-workout refuel.  I made a Chocolate-Beet Protein Smoothie with extra spinach.  Topped with my custom granola and blueberries.

Side note: It drives me insane when people call them “bloobs.”  Is that silly?  #sorryimnotsorry

Lunch:

Cod that I baked in marinara sauce and mushrooms with a side of quinoa mixed with hummuswhite bell pepper, and broccoli slaw.

It was pungent, so I also had one of the office soft mints. ;)

Afternoon Snack:

Sandwiches aren’t a staple in my life, but I’m really liking them lately!  This was turkey made at the local farmer’s market on Ezekial bread with local greens and hummus.

The salad was a Quinoa Tabbouleh.  The recipe will come tomorrow!

This is when the day got awesome.  I left work to get a massage… where I realized exactly how badly I need to get them regularly.  My back was a knot forest.

Kombucha is good for muscle recovery, so naturally I headed to Whole Paycheck Foods to get a one on tap.  And a few other things I didn’t really need.

Buchi Fire

Shamelessly staged a photo shoot in the parking lot.

Dinner:

Ripped Recipes shared my Cheese-less Cauliflower Crust recipe on Instagram last night… which sparked a craving.  Pizza time!

I topped mine with marinara, broccoli slaw, baked tofu, and a slice of Daiya Provolone.  I eat cheese, but I actually love Daiya.  I do not; however, think it tastes like real cheese.

I am finally getting smart about making this pizza – I make a few crusts at a time to keep in the freezer for quick week night dinners.  MUCH better than pizza from the freezer section!

Side note: I recently discovered and really like Ripped Recipes as a resource for creative, protein-rich ideas.  Have you guys ever heard of them?

Dessert:

I really, really love carrots.  Hence – once again – my Carrot Cake Protein Batter.  I added some of the protein powder from my iHerb box and used a tiny bit of the Walden Farms caramel.  Both were a little fake.  The custom granola crack and the figs were good!

The peanut flour farmers should really pay me.  Or I should at least get a break on my state taxes (it’s made here in GA).

Have you ever ordered from iHerb?  What are some of your go-tos?

What are some of your favorite carbs?  Oatmeal?  Quinoa?  Others?

YOU shared Ripped Recipes with me and I am LOVING them… But I LOVEEEEEEEE iHERB MOREEE!! iHerb is my LIFE! I could surf that site for hours, looking at stuff I don’t need, yet put in my cart and press ORDER! My credit card f*&$ing LOVES ME!

  2. says

Cannot wait to see what new creations you come up with! funny, the other day I was thinking ‘why aren’t some of Laura’s recipes not on ripped recipes?! Glad to see you getting some out in their spotlight!

amazing news… P28 bread is finally coming to australia mid september! I lived on it in NYC last year and was pining for them to come!

  3. says

I’m totally obsessed with peanut flour. I literally eat so much of it, maybe that’s not a good thing – but, I’m going with it. It’s too tasty to resist. Which is kind of weird because I don’t like peanut butter, but peanut flour is my main squeeze.

      • says

Part of it is a consistency thing and another thing is I find it waaaay too bitter and savory tasting haha, which is why I like peanut flour so I can add stevia to sweeten it :)

  4. says

I just checked out your cauliflower crust recipe and it sounds so easy! i NEED to make it soon!
Did you try the Walden Farms Caramel yet? I ordered it once and I found that it had a really bad aftertaste. Curious, what you think.
My favorite carb is definitely oats and Sweet Potatoes! If we count pumpkin as a carb, then also pumpkin – I already spotted the first ones at the supermarket, so excited!

    • Laura says

Thanks! It is super easy. :)

I tried it… it’s not as bad as some of their stuff, but definitely still a bit fake. *sigh*

  5. says

I love peanut flour! I really need to get round to ordering some more but usually the shipping from iHerb to the UK ends up being so expensive cause I end up getting a bit over excited and ordering too much haha…
I really need to try the toad in the hole egg in bread! Looks so good!
Oats are by far my favourite carb..love love love them!

  6. says

It bothers me when people call them bloobs too… Like why? Why make something so delicious sound so ridiculous? And speaking of delicious, I do love my carbs. Oatmeal is probably my number one, followed by cereal, and then rice. Unless cookies count… Then cookies ;)

  7. says

I love Peanut Flour! I get the same one from iHerb, but have so far only used it in smoothies, but it is so good!
Whenever I place my iHerb haul (i need to make one soon) I always get NOW Foods raw unsalted nuts (like Pecans, cashews, pumpkin and sunflower seeds), Erewhon no-salt Crispy brown rice cereal, and MaraNatha Sunflower Seed butter (which they have been out of for months now so I have had to find it elsewhere :/.
My favorite carb sources are of course Quinoa, Kasha, sweet potatoes, and plantains!

  8. says

I LOVE peanut flour! I actually love it soooo much that I don’t buy it that much because I can go through that stuff wayyyyy too fast ahaha

I definitely LOVE oatmeal and wild rice…most delicious carbs. Otherwise, I would say fruits and “starchy” veggies. I love carrots so much that my hands and feet turned orange because I ate too many of them…oops!

  9. amelia says

Love this peanut flour. I was so bummed when TJs stopped carrying it a couple years ago. This is identical in taste and I’m especially a fan of the fact that its JUST peanuts. pB2 is Yuck sweet for me. I like using it for shakes, oats, protein balls or cookies and on banana soft serve.

Enjoying your eats via instagram lately! :) favorite carbs are oat, Ezekiel bread, sweet potatoes, butternut squash, and bananas. Mmm!

  10. says

HAHAH the term “bloobs” does my head in too…yuck! I’ve even seen some people refer to chicken breast as chicken “boobs” on Instagram- I know it’s essentially the same thing but the latter doesn’t conjure up the most pleasant of images! Favorite carbs is a toughie but right now it’s a toss-up between oats & sweet potato!

  11. says

I’ve never ordered from them before but I probably should! Yum. Although I have to admit, those Walden Farms products creep me out!

    Favorite carb – bread!

  12. Anonymous says

I like ripped recipes too! That have a lot of great stuff to give me ideas for my own ‘protein’ cooking! The chopped figs in your cake batter bowl look delicious! I just can’t get on board with the whole walden farms trend though! Something about it being zero calories makes it seem so artificial and ‘chemically’ to me. Give me the real stuff any day! :)

  13. says

I need tor recreate all of these recipes NOW…I am calling in sick to work the rest of the week. ;-) I AM, however, taking your idea on how to cook cod. Let’s just say my first trial with cod was a major fail. But how can I ruin it with spaghetti sauce and mushrooms?!?!

    • Laura says

LOL! I have been tempted to leave the office and cook sooooo many times are reading blogs.

I failed at scallops and have yet to brave them again. Baking makes life so much easier.

  14. says

You are too incredibly creative, Laura! How do you come up with all of these things?! I’m going to try the peanut flour eventually and see how it works. Hope you have a great day!

    • Laura says

      Thank you!!! I have a one-track mind. ;)

You really, really must try it. I could see you making some awesome salad dressings with it!

  15. says

Massages are MUCh needed and I am for sure taking advantage of my $8.00 1 hr thai massage weekly, HECK YES! I have found an unlimited supply of organic cauliflower at my farmers market so your cheeseless bread is on my MUST list :) When I ordered from iherb I always ordered the superfood powders as they are way better than “WHOLE PAYCHECKS prices” Hope you have a great week!! Love + Shine COURTSTAR

  16. says

I know we’ve discussed briefly before – but I prefer PB2. I have no idea what the differences are. I order from iHerb all the time! They have great prices and super fast shipping (usually, the last time took crazy long for some reason). And they do have really good customer service.

  17. says

‘bloobs’ doesn’t really bring up the most pleasant of images, does it? And I’ve actually never ordered food online…although maybe I should, because the only peanut flour I’ve been able to find is PB2, which I did actually really like.

  18. says

Good for you for getting a massage – well-deserved and one of life’s so-worth-it pleasures! I ordered from iHerb last time you talked about your promo code … I’m a sucker for that stuff :). And I ordered the peanut flour per your recommendation, but I’m trying to finish my PB2 before I crack into it! (Even though I learned – from you – that there’s extra junk in there, I just hate wasting food!)

    • Laura says

You have amazing self-control! I try to do that with flours too – I had 10 different kinds open at one point! Down two 6 now. LOL!

    • Laura says

THAT I cannot believe! You guys have to get some… selfishly because I want to copy whatever it is you make with it. ;)

      Let’s start a blogger commune!

  19. says

Omg, I’m down to like my last cup or so of peanut flour and I’m doing my best to ration it out since I have soooooooooo much other stuff in my pantry that I need to eat up! I’ve tried so many different kinds but I have to say that Protein Plus is by far my favorite…tastes just like the one they used to see at Trader Joes! Ugh, WHY did they have to discontinue it?! Out…of…their…minds! But I will say I think you bought enough to make at LEAST a dozen of my peanut butter protein cakes! Just saying! ;)

Umm, I say bloobs a lot…sorry. But I do NOT say strawbs <- Now THAT is ridiculous! I mean, seriously? A w and a b should never be next to each other! Lol

I had a recipe featured on Ripped Recipes once but I asked them to pull it. They posted my Red Velvet Cake Pancakes but upped all the measurements and then used melted chocolate to top them with instead of cocoa powder sauce…the final result was like 700 calories and they posted the ENTIRE recipe on their blog. I was like, who the heck is gonna even click the link to see me when they think I'm making gut bombs for breakfast AND they have the whole thing right here? Good "idea"…poor execution…but that's just my opinion!

Hope you're having a great day sweets! I'm snuggled up under a blanket in my hotel room sipping some not-so-bad-but-I-have-had-better hotel coffee working up the energy to go play on the beach! :P

    • Laura says

I adore those cakes!!! I need to revisit that one. :)

Weird about Ripped… I had to submit the recipes myself. I wonder why they just took yours?! I’d be pissed too.

Enjoy your beach time! All that food in IG looks amazing.

    • Laura says

It’s all peanuts, so yes it’s pea-nutty. And the texture is like… flour… LOL! Really – you can bake with it.

  20. says

Aw, now why they gotta go and take the fat out of peanut butter. Sad day, although I’m gad it makes you happy.
I’m a big fan of quinoa, partially for it’s protein, but I don’t make it enough and I’m not really sure why. Homemade pizza crusts beat store bought anyday.

      • says

I’m wrinkling my nose and sporting a puckered up duck face at the powder description….but I trust you, and I suspect many people feel the same way about my beet juice mimosas. Or occasional breakfast drinking for that matter. I’ll make a deal with you. If I ever come face to face with you, then and only then (unless of course I love it) will I try peanut butter powder so long as it comes in one of your creations. Maybe I’ll eat my words. :)

  21. says

No, it’s definitely not (!) weird you’re bugged by people calling blueberries – insert shudder here – … bloobs. Why? Please just stop trying to be funny about your fruit, people? There are no ‘strawbs’ in my grammar either – just plain awesome strawberries. Sorry for the rant – I can be a smidgen grammar-obsessed.
Okay, I’ll just skip over the first part of the post pretending I didn’t see any peanut flour. Really, though, I wish it was available over here or at least that ordering from iHerb wasn’t such a struggle.
I’m glad to hear you got your ‘knot forest’ entangled through a massage :).

    • Laura says

Does Bob’s make peanut flour?! I order their GF oats (for some reason I like the GF best…) and all kinds of random flours you’d never use. Maybe try a cookie mix??

  22. Mimi says

I buy from iherb but lately have been heading to nutrition. I get coconut oil, stevia- liquid flavored, peanut flour by the cartload:), psylllum. Love iherb!

  23. says

I would dearly dearly love to share in all of these meals with you, my dear, except that you can keep the horrific Walden travesties and I’ll bring my own legit dulce de leche. ;)

    xoxo

    • Laura says

They have it here from a company based in NC called Buchi. I’d be interested to know if you can get it up there!

  24. says

I can tell you right now that tahini + homemade coconut butter (w. a sprinkling of cinnamon and maybe some melted semisweet chocolate chips…) is DELICIOUS, so adding peanut butter? FAB.

I definitely need some coconut flour. (I still have a ton of the giant package of that peanut flour. Some people move with old family photographs. I move with open packages of protein powders.)

  25. says

These sound amazing! I’m sold. *-* I will very likely be making an order on iherb and experimenting with a bunch of recipes soon. Thank you for sharing! :]

  26. Krystle says

How do you like the chocolite protein??? What protein powder do you always find yourself using?
What are your staples to purchase from iherb?
