Time sure flies when you’re all jacked up.

The heel pain mystery has been solved. No, it was not caused (or cured) by Jack. This was my view on the way to the doctor though!
Many of you guys guessed it would be plantar fasciitis and you were right. The Doc said I caught it early, so I should be fine with some daily stretches and rolling it on a frozen water bottle. While I wish it had been nothing more than a random bruise, I’m glad it’s nothing horrendous!
How’s this for random:
Kellogg is coming out with limited edition college-themed Pop Tarts. As if college students need any encouragement to subside on a diet of PopTarts. Did anyone else go through a cinnamon Pop Tart vending machine phase freshmen year?
Nothing like add a curve in the form of the “Freshman 15.”
Then I saw this nauseatingly random sandwich:
NPR reported on a group who found a creative, albeit unnecessary, way to fuel their 5K. An Energy Bar Sandwich composed of “Luna Bar bread, a Clif Bar patty, topped with a Powerbar, carbohydrate goo and… Clif Shot Bloks.” 1,200 calories of fuel. *barf*
The article is filled with hilarious quotes, but this one was my favorite Shot: “This is the perfect thing to eat before my new workout program, ‘Crossfat.’”
Less gag-inducing, but random nonetheless:
This article entitled “Foods That Make You Pretty” is full on food remedies to common annoyances.
My favorite? Celery can apparently be used to scrub and whiten your teeth. I think I’ve inadvertently used it as floss…
A random blast for my recipe past:

I am not knocking the 5km distance by any means but that sandwich kinda takes pre-fuelling to another level..ick! The guy next to me was flying in pyjamas..no joke! As random as it was, part of me was jealous!

That is disgusting. I don’t even think marathoners take in that much fuel and certainly not all at once. Here’s hoping it was a joke and people don’t think it IS the best fuel. Haha!
Glad your heel pain was caught early. I had a brief plantar fasciitis stint and found the ice bottle rolling helped as well as sleeping with my foot in a little night “splint” that kept my foot flexed. 2 nights of that and it was gone!

I haven’t had a cinnamon pop tart in a really long time, but I remember them being pretty good. I think you should develop a healthy one!

I can honestly say I’ve never wanted to be slimed, but I was jealous of people who would complain about all of the work they needed to put into their PhD program – until now. Now I understand – be careful what you wish (or dream) for, right?

I’ll have to admit to being tempted by the idea of OU Pop-Tarts, though man, I haven’t had a Pop-Tart out of a box in years. (I *have* had delicious homemade versions, but they didn’t have any Sooners insignia on them.)

OK EW to that “sandwich”. I’m trying to train for a 5k and I will NOT ever eat something that disgusting to fuel myself kthx

LOL to inadvertently using celery as floss! Been there & done that. College themed poptarts!! I’m thinking Penn State will have blueberry flavored ones but my favorite flavors are cherry, cinnamon, cookie dough, and S’mores LOL. I need to get a life.

That sandwich made me feel VERY nauseous, I don’t think there is enough money to make me eat it. I am hoping someone was joking about it eating it because I don’t know how you would manage to consume something like that (seems kind of like a challenge on the show Survivor back in the day when they would have contestants eat bugs).
I missed saying it yesterday but hugs to you and eventually you will be reunited with your dad. I am sure he was a lovely man and would be extremely proud as he has two very talented daughters.
Any updates on your sister and her music? She has such a lovely voice.

My mom recently found out she has plantar fasciitis as well. From what she tells me, it’s super painful and uncomfortable. Hope your foot gets better soon!

Ick! That sandwich is so excessive for a 5K. And talk about, ahem, digestive problems afterwards! I used to run 10km every day on an empty stomach and, while I certainly wouldn’t recommend doing it, nothing bad happened to me. Taking in 1200 calories to fuel a run which would burn maybe 400 calories is so over the top!

Gahh, I saw that energy bar sandwich on NPR the other day and nearly vomited at the thought of it. Crossfat is totally the best way to describe it! Who the hell would ever even think of putting something like that together…
And my pop tart phase in my junior year of high school…ugh. That certainly contributed to my being overweight. I was obsessed with the cinnamon-sugar and the cookie dough flavours *as I now gag at the thought of eating a pop tart…*

Plantar fasciitis is no joke–I know a few people that have battled it for several years because they didn’t take care of it early on. I hope catching it early means you will be spared that problem! Stretch, stretch, stretch!

As much as I hate to admit it Kellog’s will make bank on those poptarts. Freshman year I would eat the Brown Sugar Pop Tarts that had “20% of daily fiber!!!!” plastered on them. Ugh. I thought this meant I was eating better haha It is nice to see how far I have come during the past 3 years. I’m sure being a nutrition major and reading healthy blogs helped my diet quite a bit

Seriously? To fuel a 5K?! It’s THREE FREAKING MILES people…not a marathon! I thought it was some kind of s’mores at first until I saw the gummies and was like wtf? You would have to pay me some major bucks to choke that sucker down! Ewww, especially with the goo in there! Ick!
Whoa-my-God!! Poptarts…don’t get me near them…I might have a relapse! Never did the cinnamon but I swear I still have strawberry sprinkles hidden in the nooks and crannies of my internal organs…EVERY DAY for like my entire senior year in high school! (one of the “perks” to having your mom be the director of an after school daycare…that provided snacks!
)
I totally wanted to get slimed when I was younger…hell, I’d do it now! But do they even still do it? Dude!!! We need a slime central at Blend 2013!! I’m emailing Lindsay and Janetha NOW!

Bahahaa! I totally died laughing when I saw that Energy Bar Sandwich. It’s like a Man vs. Food challenge…but built of relatively healthy products. But still. Is that white thing the Powerbar? I can figure out the rest. I thought it was a slab of cheese or something. Those Pop Tarts crack me up. Do they sell them on game days or in vending machines in college towns? I wonder what flavor the Clemson Pop Tart would be…In high school, I totally ate the Cinnamon Pop Tarts from our vending machine for breakfast. There were always two flavors. The other was strawberry or blueberry. Cinnamon was the jam. Haven’t touched a Pop Tart since 2002. Blast from the past?.
..I got nothing. How much would someone have to pay me to eat that beast? Probably like $20. I’m always up for a food challenge. That one isn’t terrible. Nothing’s fried. And I don’t see the ghost pepper lurking nearby…

Never really been a huge fan of pop tarts but lots of people in my uni eat them -.- I’m more of a bagel girl when in a rush ^^
